For pursuing a career path as a food inspector, a general bachelor's degree course is sufficient. However, there is an added advantage if you have a degree in the mentioned fields. After completion of the Bachelor's, you can go for a master's degree also, although it isn't mandatory. You are eligible for appearing in the government-organized exam for the appointment of Food Inspectors.

A food inspector's duty includes an examination of food, animals in privately-owned meat or poultry plants (inspection is carried out, usually before and after slaughter, guaranteeing that the product is not contaminated).
