Industrial Engineer

“Manage and keep track of engineering endeavours!”

Industrial engineers find ways to eliminate wastefulness in production processes. They devise efficient ways to use workers, machines, materials, information, and energy to make a product or provide a service. Industrial engineers often work on teams with other professionals, industrial engineering technicians, and production staff. Industrial engineers apply their skills to many different situations – from manufacturing to business administration.

  2. Bachelor's Degree Course (4 years): B. E./B. Tech.

To become a production and industrial engineer one needs to do at least BE (Production and Industrial Engineering) of four years duration. A candidate who has passed his/her 10+2 or equivalent with science as a subject is eligible for admission to the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering. The method of selection includes entrance test and interview. Some institutions offer admission on merit basis also. Industrial engineering is also taught as a special subject after BE mechanical / electrical.

  3. Master's Degree Course (2 years): M. E./M. Tech.

For admissions to P G courses in Industrial Engineering/Management, candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any branch of engineering/technology (BE / B.Tech) or equivalent with first division. Some institutes are also offering admissions based on CAT/GATE score. The duration of PG Diploma in Industrial Engineering is 2 years, and selection is through GD & Interview. The eligibility for admission to a Fellow Doctoral Programme (Ph. D. program) is a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering (ME / MTech – Full Time course; 1st Class). NET qualifier can also apply. Method of selection includes academic qualifications, work experience, seminar presentation and Interview; in fact it is based on the applicant’s total academic and professional achievements.

  1. A perceptual and sharp mindset are the key elements!

Industrial engineers usually do the work to Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, and other information to understand manufacturing and service methods and activities; Figure out how to manufacture parts or products or deliver services with maximum efficiency; Develop management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient; Enact quality control procedures to resolve production problems or minimize costs; Work with customers and management to develop standards for design and production; Design control systems to coordinate activities and production planning to ensure that products meet quality standards & Confer with clients about product specifications, vendors about purchases, management personnel about manufacturing capabilities, and staff about the status of projects.
